Avondale is primarily an agricultural community. Ranked fourth in the nation in total number of acres dedicated to farmland, Avondale and the surrounding county owes much of its farming success to the area’s abundant rainfall, deep fertile soil, and proximity to major markets. Avondale’s fabulous seasonal climate produces perfect weather for enjoying the beautiful southeastern Pennsylvania outdoors. The borough is home to several excellent championship golfing facilities – Hartefeld National, Inniscrone Golf Club, and Loch Nairn Golf Course – and is located ten miles north of White Clay Creek, a popular fishing and swimming destination that is part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, a program designed to protect and preserve select rivers and waterways across the U.S.

The borough is home to the New Garden Growers Market, a seasonal farmers market held on Saturday mornings, May through November that features farm fresh produce, homemade apple cider, fresh honey, free-range eggs, handmade cakes, pies, and pastries, and vine-ripened raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Patrons will also find a variety of vendors selling everything from hand-made jewelry and arts and crafts to jellies, salsas, and local wines.

Situated along State Route 41, less than 2 miles from the Kennett-Oxford Bypass and 15 miles from Interstate 95, Avondale is a great place to call home in southeastern Pennsylvania!
